1.   INTRODUCTION

YUWA is established in 2009 which is a registered, a not-for-profit, purely youth-run and youth led organization working to promote youth participation through empowerment and advocacy. YUWA was born out of a group of committed youths, working in various social sectors since 2005. The initial focus was to develop leadership skills of involved youths or to get trained as a youth activist and advocate for change, thus resulting into a wide and diverse array of knowledge, skills, and experience in this sector. It led to the realization of the seriousness of youth issues and the need to act, which, finally took the shape of YUWA. The word “YUWA” has its roots in the Nepali language referring to youths. The key mission of the organization is to empower youth to strengthen their involvement in various socio-political issues and commitment for change. Also, YUWA advocates for sustainable engagement of youths of all backgrounds at all levels.

YUWA under collaboration with Khmer Youth Association (KYA Cambodia) are implementing NOREC Youth Lead Project working on SRHR, Gender-based Violence and Climate Change in order to increase the knowledge and sharpen the skills of Youth innovators with the help of design thinking which has been a way to approach development challenges has proven widely successful. 

2.   SCOPE OF WORK

The goal of this consultancy is that consultant will develop the course targeting the audience of undergraduate students or university level between the age of 18 and 25, assuming that the course is more relevant and generic for them. And it should also address that the youth from all over the Nepal doesn’t have same capabilities as per geographic region. 

The scope of work for the consultant will include but not be limited to:

Module: Socio-Political Understanding

  • Nepal’s Political History
    • Research and present Nepal’s major political influences and activities throughout history.
    • Identify necessary traits and Concepts on Nepal’s Political History
    • Create a complete detailed course map that identifies all the component to be included
    • Create course content according to course map 
    • Develop quizzes and other interactive activities for the module
    • Create a library for further reading and materials for the course participants to follow
    • Create a Power-Point presentation and a video script for the module
  • Political Ideologies
    • Explain the major political ideologies uprising throughout history.
    • Reflect on the influences of political ideologies over time and their effect in present times.
    • Identify necessary traits and Concepts on Political Ideologies
    • Create a complete detailed course map that identifies all the component to be included

    • Reflect on the impacts of an effective and ineffective governance system.
    • Discuss the type and level of the governance system in Nepal and ways on improving the present protocol.

  • Social Issues and Activism
    • Explore the existence of social issues in Nepal.
    • Inspect the major activism steps adopted throughout time to rectify social issues.
    • Investigate major social issues of our time and the influence of activism on both the national and international level. 
    • Identify necessary traits and Concepts on Social Issues and Activism
    • Create a complete detailed course map that identifies all the component to be included
    • Create course content according to course map 
    • Develop quizzes and other interactive activities for the module

  • Co-existence and Harmony
    • Integrate the ideas of co-existence and harmony based on their importance over the above-mentioned contents.

    • Create course content according to course map 
    • Develop quizzes and other interactive activities for the module

  • Youth Movements in Nepal
    • Introduce and reflect on the works and achievements of the Youth Movement in Nepal.
    • Describe the areas of involvement and the correct ethical way to implement them.
    • Identify necessary traits and Concepts on Youth movement in Nepal
    • Create a complete detailed course map that identifies all the component to be included
    • Create course content according to course map 
    • Develop quizzes and other interactive activities for the module

  • Constitutional Features and Agencies
    • Identify necessary traits and Concepts on Constitutional features and agencies

4.   TIMEFRAME

A maximum of 45 working days including preparation, validation and finalization, expected to commence after signing the contract. The mentorship will be completed by the end of February.
