Consultancy Opportunity – Dairy Expert

Heifer International Nepal is developing a Signature Program “The Milky Way Nepal” in collaboration with Heifer Korea including the donation of high-quality bulls and heifers, technical collaboration, and the establishment of a Model Dairy Village to demonstrate improved practices and technologies. Heifer has received initial positive feedback for this effort from Korean government officials, dairy coops and other stakeholders which would include the donation of 101 heifers, 20 superior bulls (Holstein Friesian and Jersey), and semen to impregnate the donated heifers. The bulls will be used to improve Nepal’s dairy breeds through breeding centers managed by the Government of Nepal; the heifers will form the basis for a Model Dairy Village with an established nucleus dairy herd and a genetic improvement program capable of providing all breeding bulls required for the national breeding center. Heifer Nepal will facilitate the partnership and establish and manage the Model Dairy Village in partnership with local communities, government, cooperatives, the national dairy association and private dairy companies.
