Kathmandu Mess is a busy department in British Gurkhas Kathmandu, responsible for hospitality of the unit, year-round service during Mess functions, accommodation of visitors and day to day routine Mess operations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Serving core meals, bar snacks, tea & coffee, tea & toast and drinks at dinning, Ante Room, Bar and functions.
  • Waiting on Mess members during Mess opening time.
  • Providing room key for guest according to accommodation sheet.
  • Cleaning Mess property on regular basis, report any breakages, losses, administration of mess laundry.
  • Maintain daily inventory of beverages, EPNS items.
  • Maintain the bar stocks of beverages using FIFO system.

Required Qualification & Experience

Success Profile:

The ideal candidate will have interest in understanding their duties and be a team player. He/She will also show clear communication skills in both English and Nepali and have a good sense of customer service. Candidates must ensure their experience and qualifications address these requirements.

The following behaviours[1], will be assessed, Teamwork, Communicating and Influencing, Managing a Quality Service, Delivering at Pace (please visit the footnote for better understanding). Shortlisted candidates will be assessed on their Hospitability & English Language Skills.


Internal candidates: SZ1 for level transfer.

External candidates: Nepali Citizen between 18 to 58 years

Benefits & Working Environment:

  • Salary: 38,368.00 NPR per month, weekly working hours – 40hrs (Full Time, Permanent).
  • Dashain Bonus & Retirement Funds (EPF & CIT).
  • Gratuity after completing 3 years’ service.
  • Annual leave 25 days and public holidays 10 days.
  • 100% reimbursement for Job Holder and limited reimbursement for immediate dependents.
