Job Description

Terms of Reference – Volunteer Global Citizen

Duration: 15 July 2021 to 15 January 2022

Context

Restless Development is the global agency for youth-led development and has been working in Nepal since 1991. We listen to young people, our work is led by young people, and together we help young people make lasting change in their communities and countries. Our efforts focus on supporting young people to achieve the four priorities they told us they need to realize their full potential: a voice in decision-making, a decent living, control over their sexual rights and a recognized leadership role in their communities.

Restless Development Nepal is leading the Youth Take the Lead programme supported by The Norwegian Agency for Exchange Cooperation (NOREC). The project is focused on enhancing youth leadership across our two country Hubs namely Nepal and Tanzania. The main purpose of the programme is to promote global citizenship and provide a platform for youth to demonstrate their leadership skills and create positive impact within our organizations and in their communities.

Restless Development Nepal is looking for highly motivated and committed volunteers to work with the young people and lead the initiatives to address Mental Health and Sexual Reproductive Health and RIghts issues. They will extensively work in the implementation of the advocacy plan of Youth Take the Lead programme.

  • Sexual reproductive health and right: 2
  • Mental Health: 2

Purpose of the Volunteer

  • Develop Advocacy action plan
  • Timely implement the advocacy action plan related to sexual and reproductive health and rights and Mental Health in collaboration with school nurses after being trained.
  • Implement advocacy plan which includes:
    • Organizing advocacy events
    • Awareness raising events
    • Deliver sessions and trainings
  • Become active citizens and inspire others to become active citizens.
  • Build positive relationships with stakeholders, community people and with students at school.
  • Report to the program team of YTL, Restless Development Nepal.
  • Maintain optimal workflow
  • Financial duties
  • Report preparation
  • Communicate any issue or concerns which are likely to affect your committed work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Benefits to Volunteers

  • Restless Development, Nepal is offering an allowance of NPR 5000/- (five thousand only) and communication 500 (five hundred); total 5500/- (five thousand and five hundred only) per month which is inclusive of the communication expenses and Govt. liable tax.

Support from Restless Development Nepal

  • An online workshop prior to starting to equip you with the skills to fully and confidently participate in the programme.
  • An online induction to the Restless Development online security procedures and safeguarding policy and procedures.
  • Direct support (training and resources) and mentoring on developing action plans.
  • Monitoring and guidance till completion of the program for your ongoing learning as needed Programme completion certificate and thorough, tailored reference for future employers regarding your participation in the programme.

Required Qualification & Experience

Requirements & Others

  • Basic knowledge and interest to work in Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights and Mental Health.
  • Prior experience in organizing events and awareness raising activities related to SRHR and Mental Health.
  • Must be fluent in written and spoken English and Nepali
  • Report writing skills
  • Updated CV and PAN card
  • Age group (18-25)
  • Restless alumni will be given more priority
