Job Description

1. Position: Program Coordinator

Station: Kathmandu

Duration: 1-year contract renewable for 3 years upon satisfactory performance.

Starting date: Immediate

Reports to: Executive Director (ED)

Introduction

Since its legal status in 2016, Hamro Palo has expanded its work in various districts of Nepal working in close partnership with government schools and communities. Till May 2022, around 8000 adolescent girls and 2000 adolescent boys have graduated from our flagship programs – Her Turn and His Chance Education and Empowerment Program. We have been delivering youth-based programs in the rural communities including mentorship programs and Annual conferences highlighting Girl-led leadership.

Scope of Work

Reporting to ED, Program Coordinator will lead Hamro Palo’s programs. S/he will work closely with Executive Director, program delivery team, partners, and other relevant stakeholders ensuring all designed activities are implemented within the deadline to achieve the set outcome.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead the programs designed with and for girls and women.
  • Develop work plans to ensure timely implementation of activities.
  • Coordinate and communicate with potential stakeholders including funding partners.
  • Organize meetings with various individuals and organizations.
  • Prepare advocacy and fund-raising plans to support the grassroots movements.
  • Support the ED to develop proposals and strategies.
  • Prepare periodic as well as donor based reports.
  • Guide and train mentors and volunteers associated with various activities.

Education, Skills, and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree completed. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Strong proven experience in managing projects and leading a team.
  • Strong understanding of girls’ education, women’s rights and political leadership.
  • Strong organizational and networking skills.
  • Strong language command over both Nepali and English and communication skills.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Able to guide young college-going students as team members.

2. Position: Communication and Documentation Associate 

Station: Kathmandu

Duration: 1-year contract renewable for 3 years upon satisfactory performance.

Starting date: Immediate

Reports to: Executive Director (ED)

Scope of Work

Reporting to ED, Communications and Documentation Associate will lead Hamro Palo’s communications and documentation dept. S/he will be leading all the communications leading the programs. S/he will work closely with Executive Director, program delivery team, partners, and other relevant stakeholders ensuring all designed activities are implemented within the deadline to achieve the set outcome.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop content for Hamro Palo’s website.
  • Develop work plans to ensure timely implementation of activities update.
  • Coordinate and communicate with potential guests, participants, and speakers during events.
  • Organize meetings with various individuals and organizations.
  • Handle social media such as ( LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube)
  • Support program team in leading advocacy initiatives.
  • Lead online/offline campaigns highlighting international celebration days
  • Lead in developing stories and case studies of program beneficiaries.
  • Build relationship with local media for greater collaboration.

Education, Skills, and Experiences

  • Bachelor’s degree completed.
  • Strong proven experience in content writing and social media management.
  • Strong understanding of girls’ education, women’s rights issues.
  • Experience in case study writing and advocacy plans.
  • Strong language command over both Nepali and English.
  • Strong communication skills both written and speaking.
  • Prior experience of handling website will be an added advantage.
  • Experience in promotional materials designing such as Canva.
