Job Description

Handicap International Federation (HI) is an independent and impartial aid organization, created in 1982, working across 63 countries. HI works alongside the vulnerable populations, whatever the context, taking action to respond to their essential needs, improve their living conditions and promote respect for their dignity and fundamental rights.Present in Nepal since 2000, HI works through a network of local partner organizations in the area of health and physical rehabilitation, inclusive education and resilience including emergency response to improve the living conditions and involvement of the most vulnerable populations in Nepal.

Physical Rehabilitation Activity (PRA) is 5 years program funded by USAID which is aiming to integrate rehabilitation service in the Public Health System. This program started in June 2019 and is working closely with government authorities, DisabledPeople’sOrganizations (DPOs); physiotherapy unit in District hospitals; private rehabilitation services providers and rehabilitation professional associations. PRA is implementing Post COVID-19 rehabilitation activities in Nepal in close collaboration with government of Nepal.

HI Nepal invites applications for the following position:

Technical Rehabilitation Officer– 1 position

Terms & Conditions: 1 Year Fixed Term Contract

Location: Country Office, Kathmandu, Nepal

Key Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the PRA Chief of Party:

• Lead post COVID-19  rehabilitation activities in close coordination with PRA team
• Coordinate with government counterpart  to plan, implement and monitor the post COVID -19 rehabilitation activities
• Coordinate to adapt and develop awareness raising materials such as Information, Education and Communication Materials(IEC materials) regarding COVID-19  rehabilitative management
• Coordinate  to develop  “Rehabilitative management of COVID 19 guidance”
• Conduct Orientation/Capacity building of health and rehabilitation professionals on the developed “awareness raising materials” and “Rehabilitative management of COVID 19 guidance”
• Ensure development of  tele-rehabilitation package for essential rehabilitation,  COVID-19 cases and vulnerable populations requiring rehabilitation services and integration with the existing tele-medicine practices in Karnali Province
• Ensure outreach services to provide post-COVID rehabilitation services in coordination and collaboration with public Physiotherapy units, , provincial hospitals,  local authorities and physical rehabilitation centres.

Required Qualification & Experience

• Bachelor with 3-4 years of the most recent experience or Master level with 2 years of the most recent experience in core health related rehabilitation sector.
• Experience in COVID-19 rehabilitative management and specialization on cardiopulmonary rehabilitation will be a very  strong asset
• Previous experience working with government on health related rehabilitation is required, preferably working on policy,  planning level and training package development will be asset
• Strong report writing skill
• Demonstrate  problem solving, communication and advocacy skills
• Fluent  in writing  and  speaking English
