Job Description

FAIRMED in Nepal is planning to implement a project aiming to improve health and well-being of communities in three districts (Jhapa, Morang, and Sunsari) of Province 1. The project applies the approach of “leaving no one behind” and plans to strengthen integrated health service delivery and its utilization in the targeted districts.

In order to execute the project effectively, FAIRMED is looking for a Project Manager to lead the overall program implementation, monitoring and supervision in collaboration with local governments.

Position: Project Manager (Based in Project Office, Biratnagar)

We are seeking a public health expert who is competent in community health management, partnership & collaboration, and advocacy. S/he should also be a strong team player/mobiliser. Major responsibility of the Project Manager will be to ensure overall management of the project implementation in partnership with the PNGO, supervise the project team, ensure proper coordination and collaboration with the municipal governments of working municipalities. The position is also responsible for progress updates and periodic reporting, building team’s capacity, working closely with PNGO to build/strengthen partnership and networking with provincial government as well as other like-minded organizations in the area. The other crucial role is to carry out advocacy with provincial government and municipal governments on NTDs, Reproductive Health and disabilities, identify gap areas including equity aspects, and actions to be taken to improve health condition/status of the population for ultimate improvement in prosperity of their municipality.

Required Qualification & Experience

Required qualifications and experience

  1. Master’s degree in Public Health, Social Work/Sociology, or other relevant disciplines.
  2. At least 7 years of experience in health project management, including   program planning and execution, monitoring & reporting, collaboration and advocacy, with government and other development organizations.Excellent understanding of Nepal’s health system in federal context, and community health issues particularly on current gaps in health equity.
  3. Technical knowledge on Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and Disability Inclusive Development (DID).
  4. Prior experience of leading/managing health projects with demonstrated experience and skills in system strengthening, team mobilization, advocacy, and resource mobilization.


  1. Ability to prepare, manage and monitor project budgets and implementation plans in collaboration with project team and partner organizations.
  2. Ability to collaborate effectively with project partners, local/provincial governments, and other relevant stakeholders.
  3. Ability to monitor progress, budget burnt rate, and take decisions based on data and prepare reports on project contribution and impact for sharing with government, donors and other stakeholders.
  4. Skills and experience of strengthening partnership and advocacy at municipal and provincial levels.
  5. Skills of team building and effective mobilization.
  6. Fluent in English and Nepali languages (verbal and written).
