Job Description

National Environment & Equity Development Society (NEEDS) Nepal is a humanitarian & development organization dedicated to improving socio economic development, Humanitarian action/DRR/CCA & anti-trafficking prevention and safe migration in Sudurpaschim province since 1999. NEEDS Nepal has three core sectors i) Safe Migration, ii) Bio-diversity, DRR/M, climate resilience/Emergency management & iii) Food Security & Economic Growth with the inclusion of governance/influencing & GSEI. NEEDS Nepal has developed its expertise in these sectors and in various subsectors, specifically in Technical Education & Vocational Training, climate resilience, economic development, livelihood, infrastructure development, humanitarian response, urban-DRR, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management & flood resilience.

NEEDS Nepal is implementing Promoting Green Recovery through Effective and Improved Waste Management Project (PGRP) in Bheemdatt Municipality, Kanchanpur District from 1st June 2021 for 10 Month with the support from UNDP.  The main objective of the project is to create employment opportunities via green recovery initiatives and make it more accessible for employment to men & women from the most vulnerable groups in Bheemdatt Municipality. The project is targeted to develop a comprehensive Sustainable Urban waste management plan in post COVID-19 period. The project will be mainstreamed sustainable green recovery plan/strategy and implement it in the municipality by creating employment opportunities via green recovery initiatives & make it more accessible for women and men of the communities.

We are looking for potential Nepalese candidates to fill out the following position:

Project Coordinator-1 (Based in Mahendranagar, Kanchanpur):

The position will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring, coordinating and reporting of the project. The person will also require conducting field visit in the specific areas of the project to work with communities, partners, local and provincial government structures for the implementation of the project. Besides project management, the incumbent will also provide technical support and ensure that programs apply best practices, maximize synergies and apply a harmonized approach towards Green Recovery through Effective and Improved Waste Management.

Required Qualification & Experience

Qualification & Experience

Applicants have excellent spoken and written skills in English with hands on programme management experience and technical knowledge with 5 years’ experience in environment management activities and 2-3 years in waste managements. Applicant should have at least master degree in Environmental sciences or development studies or related field.
