ALIVE is a 5-year project aiming to develop, and test the feasibility, acceptability and appropriateness of intervention modules (economic/anti-poverty intervention modules and self-regulation intervention modules) for preventing common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety among adolescents aged 10-19 years living in poverty affected urban settings such as squatter settlements in Nepal. The economic/anti-poverty interventions would be focused on reducing multi-dimensional poverty of the family and could include programmes such as intervention for school retention, or intervention for bringing back school drop-outs, or nutrition intervention, or cash transfer, or cash transfer plus saving skill training, or cash transfer plus other skill-based training, etc. The modules of the interventions should be developed based on evidence and thereafter be implemented in the selected settings, followed by evaluation.
