Position Title: Procurement Clerk

Duty Station: Kathmandu, Nepal

Classification: General Service Staff, Grade-3

Type of Appointment: Special Short Term ,6 months with possibility of extension

Estimated Start Date: As soon as possible

Closing Date: August 02, 2022

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Resources Management Officer and direct supervision of National Procurement Logistics and Government Liaison Officer, Security FP, the incumbent will be supporting procurement activities of the organization. The incumbent’s responsibilities will include the following: 

Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  1. Support purchasing of required office equipment, supplies, materials.
  2. Closely coordinate with and ensure that all project-related purchases are reviewed and approved by the Project Manager in advance.
  3. Coordinate with the Finance Department on accounting requirements prior to issue of purchase orders.
  4. Follow up on the timely delivery of procured supplies and materials by the vendors.
  5. Maintain all relevant records as per IOM procedures.
  6. Liaise closely with the finance section concerning payment procedures for goods delivered.
  7. Strictly adhere to the proper IOM administrative procedures and standards for follow up, canvassing, bidding, ordering and stock keeping.
  8. Assist in maintaining inventories and store.
  9. Undertake any other duties that may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time which are commensurate to the position.

Required Qualification & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in management or relevant field from accredited Institute with one year of relevant work experience, or
  • Completed High School degree with 3 years in relevant work experience.


  • Experience in procurement work and its procedure will be an advantage.
  • Experience in maintaining inventory.
  • Familiar with excel spread sheets and word processing.
  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously within a team from varied cultures and professional background.


Fluency in English, Nepali is required.

Appointment will be subject to certification that the candidate is medically fit for appointment. Only Nepali Nationals will be considered for this position.
