Job Description

Orchestrate World Vision International Nepal’s multi-pronged Policy Advocacy, Campaign and Communications approaches Government and External Engagement Strategies to shape child-friendly policies formulation, implementation and monitoring; and to promote partnership and collaboration with key stakeholders (partner NGOs/broader Civil Society Organizations, Government of Nepal at all level, donors/development partners, other peer local and International NGOs, media, private sectors, community leaders, social enterprises etc) in order to scale up impacts of child-focused development, advocacy and humanitarian programs – contributing the improvement of the well-being of the most vulnerable girls and boys and their families and communities in Nepal.

Major Responsibilities 

Leading and facilitating WVI Nepal’s Government Engagement – in collaboration with National Director and other SLT members, including but not limited to:

  • Ensure compliance with relevant Government of Nepal’s (GoN) guideline on organization and or project’s related matters, and guide internal team to meet compliance’s requirements with highest quality deliverables.
  • Maintain regular and strategic communications, relationship and engagement with key Government officials in collaboration with SLT and other team members.
  • Facilitate selected high- level visits of Government officials or other partners to visit WVIN Programs

Strategic Partnership Management- In collaboration with SLT and key team members engage externally – identify, initiate, nurture and oversee key strategic partnership with federal-level partners (i.e human rights and child rights commission, community radio associations, leading media and youth organizations, etc) in order to mobilize partnership to positively influence child-related policies and guidelines for the well-being of children in Nepal.

  • In collaboration with Field Operations Director, Field Managers and Partnership Specialist, strengthen partnership with local implementing NGOs partners meeting partnership objectives including to work collectively influencing child-related policies and guidelines implementation in project areas
  • Strategically leverage PNGOs engagement and partnership to support WVI Nepal’s child-well-being projects partnership with GoN and other strategic partners.

Leading Team and Facilitating Cross-Function collaboration team with other departments and broader WV Partnership, including but not limited to:

  • Provide directions, guidance, coaching and technical supports to Policy, partnership and Communications team members and ensuring team accountability to deliver and measure the results
  • Build cohesive team, lead by examples of the implementation of GROWTH organisational cultures and values
  • Collaborate with other SLT members in ensuring integration of communications messaging, government and external engagement, advocacy and campaign (with technical programs in nutrition and livelihoods, education, protection)
  • Facilitate, support, guide cross-function collaboration on government and external engagement
  • Promote, engage and collaborate with WV Partnership’s Policy, Communications and Advocacy/Campaign communities

Required Qualification & Experience

A.  Required Professional Experience

  • At least 5-10 years of experience in the related sector with a Master’s degree in public policies, social policies, law, development studies/ management, political science, communication studies, social studies or other relevant subjects.
  • Field and national-level strategic policy advocacy and advocacy programmatic experiences with local and international organizations in Nepal
  • Strong political negotiation and connector skills – ability to network, negotiate and connect with a range of organizations
  • Strong team player – must be able to form and lead a number of cross-functional working groups.
  • Strategic thinker and having strong analytical skills
  • Persuasive communication skills
  • Passionate on promoting collaboration and partnership on children, women and issues of the disadvantaged members of communities
  • Fluent in Nepali with Fluent written and spoken English
  • Program development for advocacy or campaigns
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel

B.  Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Familiarity with thinking and working politically approaches
  • Team or leadership experiences in Government, Local/International NGOs, Public Sectors
  • World Vision’s field programming and or advocacy experiences
