Job Description

CRS is an international NGO based in the United States that works in over 100 countries to promote human development by responding to major emergencies, fighting diseases, poverty, and nurturing peaceful and just societies. CRS Nepal has been implementing multi-sector emergency response and recovery (earthquake, monsoon and COVID) programs in the affected districts and communities of Nepal. CRS Nepal is also implementing a USAID-financed livelihood technical assistance program, Farmer to Farmer (F2F), in Bagmati Province, Lumbini Province, Karnali Province and Sudurpaschim Province. Similarly, CRS Nepal has been coordinating the reconstruction through the leadership of the National/Nepal Housing and Settlements Resiliency Platform (NHSRP), previously known as Housing Recovery and Reconstruction Platform (HRRP) since March 2017 to provide technical and information management support to relevant national, provincial and local governments.

CRS Nepal Invites applications from eligible and interested candidates for the following position for Resilient Communities Through Vulnerable Earthquake Recovery (ReCoVER) Project.

Livelihood Officer (1 Position-Based in Tanahun): As a member of the ReCoVER project team, you will monitor and report on all Livelihoods project activities in support of CRS Nepal work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your thorough and service-oriented approach will ensure that the project consistently applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

• Support the coordination and implementation of all assigned project activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, local government requirements and good practices.
• Monitor and report any challenges and/or gaps identified to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules. Assist partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences.
• Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and assisting partners in their efforts to collect and analyze project data per specified mechanisms and tools. Collaborate with local partner(s) to prepare reports per established reporting schedule.
• Collect information on staff capacity needs and technical assistance needs of partner organizations and local governments. Monitor capacity building and technical support activities to ensure effective impact.
• Complete project documentation for assigned activities. Assist with identifying information for case studies and reports on promising practices.
• Share lessons learned with Livelihoods Technical Advisor and actively participate in CRS Country Program Livelihoods Community of Practice.
• Work closely with CP Livelihoods Technical Advisor to ensure program quality.

Required Qualification & Experience

Basic Qualifications

• High School diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in agriculture, animal husbandry, agri-business, or closely related field is required.
• Minimum of 2 years of work experience in livelihoods project support, which may include focus on farm extension, value chains, market linkages, financial inclusion, and enterprise development is required.
• Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data is required.
• Experience working with local implementing partners and/or local governments linked to capacity development and mentoring of implementing partner’s staff is required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in participatory action planning and community engagement.
• Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data preferred.
• Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Experience with an INGO is preferred.
• Candidates with GESI diversity is a plus, including gender (female, other); marginalized groups; persons with disability; and origin from geographically marginalized location.
• Local expertise w/ permanent address in project district and local language competency is a plus.
