Job Description

IFES Nepal is seeking an Inclusion Research Consultant to support research on the inclusion of minorities in political and electoral processes and serve as a resource person for the IFES Nepal team and civil society partners. This consultant position is under the supervision of the Country Director and will be based in Kathmandu.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Support research on the inclusion of Dalit persons in political and electoral processes, including the collection, evaluation and analysis of data and qualitative information;
  • Produce a report on the findings of the research conducted;
  • Serve as a resource person for the development, implementation and management of programming focused on the participation of ethnic minority groups and other traditionally marginalized groups in political and electoral processes;
  • Provide guidance on minority inclusion in civic and voter education curriculum, trainings, materials, etc. as requested by the Country Director;
  • Other relevant duties as assigned by the Country Director.

Required Qualification & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, political science, international relations or a related field, Master’s degree preferred;
  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience supporting international development or civic engagement programming, experience supporting democracy, governance and elections preferred;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engaging with traditionally marginalized communities including but not limited to ethnic and religious minorities, women, youth, persons with disabilities or the LGBTQ community;
  • Proven experience in a research field;
  • Knowledge of data collection practices and tools;
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs, Excel, Internet) are required, familiarity with designing software and tools is an asset;
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills;
  • Fluency in English and Nepali, both written and verbal; and
  • Ability to work independently in support of a team.
