GESI Specialist

Gender Equality and Social inclusion operationalization for YUWA

Background

The Strategic Partnership Right Here, Right Now addresses the limited respect, protection and the hindered fulfilment of the sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) of young people in 10 countries in Africa, Asia and Latin America and in 1 sub-region, the Caribbean.

The RHRN platform in Nepal consists of 3 civil society organizations, including a host organization, YUWA, which hosts the RHRN platform secretariat. The work of the organizations are focused on improving Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) of young people in Nepal.

Established in 2009, YUWA is a not for profit, youth run, and youth led organization working to promote youth participation through empowerment and advocacy.

Overview of the work

YUWA is seeking a consultant or a team of consultants for guiding YUWA in operationalizing GESI in its programs and policies. The consultant and/or the team will be responsible for the following:

  • Measures for Integrating GESI in Policies
  • GESI Integration in Project/Program Cycle
  • Identify the Specific Groups of Excluded and Vulnerable
  • Situational Analysis of Barriers and Capacities
  • GESI-Responsive Planning
  • GESI in Programming and Budgeting
  • GESI and Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation
  • Institutional Arrangements for GESI

The consultant (and/or team) will then facilitate a workshop to YUWA’s executive body and staff in the aforementioned components.

Deliverables

  • To lead, coordinate and monitor GESI integration in plans, programs and policies at YUWA and contribute to ensure GESI transformative approach in the organization.
  • Prepare and submit a  GESI operationalization framework to YUWA
  • Plan and facilitate a training workshop to YUWA staff and executive body on said framework

Duration

The total length of the assignment is expected to be three months from the date of contract signing

Required Qualification & Experience

  • Master’s Degree in Sociology, Gender, Women Development or in related field with 3 yrs of field experience in GESI programming or the equivalent or Bachelor’s degree in in Sociology, Gender, Women Development or in related field with 5yrs of field experience in GESI programming or the equivalent
  • Experience in mainstreaming GESI in project cycle.
  • Experience in preparing and leading training workshops.
  • Work experience with an INGO/ NGO/UN agencies.
  • Experience of engaging partners’ staff and Government staff on GESI advocacy.
