Job Description

Opportunity Village Nepal (OVN) advocates for the rights of women and children and for their economic and social justice. The focus of its programs continues to been on abolition of child labor, prevention of human trafficking, promotion of girl child education and empowerment of women through various innovative strategies working closely with the communities they live in. Under its Anti-Human Trafficking Projects being implemented in Kathmandu, Kaski and Rupandehi, OVN invites applications for the position of Finance and Admin Coordinator.

Position: Finance and Admin Coordinator

Location: Kathmandu

Duration: One Year – can be extended upon the satisfactory performance

Major Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting, finance and administration components of the program, including the various petty cash funds and field office finance, accounting and administrative activities.
  • Ensure consistency with OVN’s standard operating procedures, policies and accounting principles.
  • Develop procedures for monitoring and analyzing project budgets, which allow accurate projection of expenditures and comparisons of actual and budgeted spending.
  • Coordinate and oversee tendering and procurement activities in all of the on-going and forthcoming projects.
  • Provide necessary guidance and advice to project staff on financial reporting through the provision of regular and timely financial expenditure reports.
  • Review all vouchers prepared by the finance officer (disbursement, receipt and general journal vouchers) for expenditures and ensures that expenses are reasonable, allowable and allocable to the project.
  • Coordinate monthly requests for funds, based on budget and cash flow projections, to ensure the project has all necessary funds for operations.
  • Contribute for the internal and external fund-raising strategy of the organization.
  • Develop financial strategies and plans for the long term financial goals of the organization
  • Develop and implement office administrative and personnel systems;
  • Maintain financial controls and procedures for the management of funds.
  • Liaise with the Director and Program Manager to ensure the project needs are being met in terms of accounting, contracts, human resources, IT, and operations.
  • Supervise admin and finance related staff and consultants working on finance and administrative for the projects.
  • Maintain financial files and ensure annual audits
  • Ensure financial reporting is in accordance with requirements of the donors.
  • Work closely under the direct supervision of Program Manager to lead fiancé, administration, HR functions of program/project and organization as well.
  • Lead to comply with SWC’s provision (approval, amendment, monitoring, etc.) in coordination with PM and Director.

Required Qualification & Experience

  • Education: At least Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with 5 years of experience or Master degree with 3 years of experience in similar position.
  • Previous experience and good computer skills with ability to work with spread sheets, FAMAS accounting software packages with a sound knowledge of excel based analytical tools is must.
  • Knowledge of the Government of Nepal’s taxation policies, laws etc.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ progressive financial management and grants management experience on development projects.
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills, creative problem-solving, conflict, ethical management skills and excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and computer skills, especially with accounting software, spreadsheets and financial analysis.
  • Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills in English and Nepali
