Job Description

Nepal Youth Foundation Nepal (NYF Nepal) is a non-profit organization working for the rights and welfare of the underprivileged children and youth of Nepal through educational, health and other humanitarian projects. Currently, to add on to existing team of professionals, NYF Nepal is seeking competent, dynamic and self – motivated candidates for the position of Field Officer for New Life Center (HIV/AIDS) Zeroing In Awareness & Advocacy Campaign in Nawalpur/Parasi, Bara/Parsa, Makwapur and Kathmandu valley.

1)   Positions: Field Officer -1

Purpose of the position: 

Implement a robust awareness and advocacy campaign, combatting stigma and providing information on HIV prevention and treatment in the community. Provide opportunities for PLHIV and CLHIV (People Living with HIV and AIDS and Children Living with HIV and AIDS) to maintain good health, nutrition and livelihood services under NYF’s project: Zeroing In to End the HIV Epidemic (EHE). Identify potential target group, coordinate and facilitate for the long term welfare of them.

Major duties and responsibilities: 

  • Reach out to the communities/districts to fulfill and carry out activities as required by the purpose of the position.
  • Coordinate with different stakeholders such as health organizations, Municipalities, schools, clubs, NGOs and CBOs.
  • Establish connection with the local government, community organizations (including volunteers) working in the field of HIV and AIDS for awareness, advocacy and empowerment.
  • Conduct a robust awareness and media advocacy campaign, combatting stigma and providing information on HIV, its transmission, treatment, and prevention, as well as resources available for those who are living with HIV and AIDS.
  • Support in developing relevant IEC materials, use them to aware the community and distribute  them to the targeted beneficiaries
  • Educate school teachers about the program and educate the students on HIV prevention, mode of transmission and ways of treatment.
  • Facilitate to provide specialized on-site care 40 CLHIV with their caretakers and 10-12 adult for their health care support and facilitate for long-term residential care for children if needed.
  • Identify and recommend ultra-poor families (HIV infected/affected) for the food package support.
  • Facilitate for income generation training to potential caregiver and provide seed money for small scale business as a startup support.
  • Facilitate to connect the needy beneficiary with NYF’s Ankur Counseling Centre for psychosocial counselling.
  • Maintain detail information of beneficiary enrolled in the program so that they can be easily identified for follow up.


  • Prepare monthly progress report coordinating with concerned staff and submit to Program Coordinator on time.
  • Coordinate and establish a good relationship with hospitals, health posts, NGO’s, CBOs, Municipality and local schools in order to run the program successfully.
  • Carry out other support activities effectively as per need of the program and perform any program related task assigned by Supervisor.

Required Qualification & Experience

  • Qualification: Minimum Bachelor degree in public health OR other discipline (with min 2 years of work experience.
  • Experience: Preferably with at least 1 year experience in relevant field.
  • Knowledge: Well acquainted with the intricacies of field work related to HIV/AIDs issues.
  • Skills, Abilities: Must possess sound interpersonal and communication skills with ability to work in diverse community and with people; should be self-motivated, flexible and task oriented. Able to develop annual plan, execute, monitor and evaluate and also work on computer (Windows-based applications).
  • Duty Station: Lalitpur with 80% field based movement and stationing in service districts
  • Travel Requirements: High frequency of field travel to villages and various parts of program priority areas.
  • Language:  Bilingual, Nepali, English and Maithali (preferred).
  • Others: Driving license for two wheeler (motorbike/scooter).

Benefits:  Compensation package NPR. 50,000/- per month
