Job Description

The Position will head FAIRMED Nepal’s finance and administrative operation. A key part of the role includes successful and transparent execution of both internal and external audit and compliance processes, as demanded by the Government of Nepal and internal FAIRMED policies. S/he is expected to ensure compliance to relevant policy expectations of FAIRMED Nepal’s implementing local partner NGOs in project areas. S/he is expected to be a thought partner to the country director in proactively shaping up relevant internal financial policies and ensure consistent best in class practices. S/he is expected to establish and enhance in-house capabilities for grant management and partnerships for ongoing programs and future programmatic expansions. S/he will have staff management responsibilities and will be expected to make periodic field visits. This role will be directly reporting to the Country Coordinator of FAIRMED Nepal and will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Required Qualification & Experience

  • Chartered Accountant from a recognised Institution with at least 8-10 years of work experience in financial management, or Master’s in Business Administration with specialization in finance and work experience of leading Finance management of over 10 Years.
  • Experienced and skilled in people management
  • Previous experience working in the development sector will be considered favourably
  • Fluent in English and Nepali languages (verbal and written).
  • Excellent analytical skills, financial planning and report writing

Major job responsibilities

  • Yearly budget planning – organise, facilitate, coordinate, and complete the yearly plan of operations with all key stakeholders in Nepal and Switzerland
  • Financial planning, analysis – yearly and quarterly planning and reporting
  • Treasury, cash and bank account management and coordination
  • Ensure compliance with Government of Nepal and internal FAIRMED policies and requirements for financial management and accounting
  • Proactive internal policy management and ensure up to date systems in a rapidly evolving environment, with scope including local implementing partner NGOs
  • Direct people and career management for the finance function
  • Development and supervision of the Country Office’s Accounting System and  Procedure.
  • Oversees the function and technical support to administrative staff. Ensure their skills in the areas of system establishment, reporting, and internal control across FAIRMED program in Nepal.
