Job Description

Chemonics International, a Washington D.C.-based international development company, seeks qualified technical experts for the anticipated USAID Nepal Agricultural Transformation project. The project seeks to catalyze transformation of Nepal’s agricultural sector required for inclusive economic growth. The objectives for this activity are to increase agricultural productivity, competitiveness, and diversification; improve the enabling environment for private sector investment in agriculture and equitable access to market systems; enhance climate and economic resilience of women, youth, and marginalized communities enhanced; and strengthen capacity of national agricultural research institutions and extension systems. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

We are looking for technical experts in the following areas: 

  • Agricultural productivity
  • Agriculture training
  • Agriculture extension services
  • Fine rice, industrial maize, lentils, high value vegetables, and goat value chains
  • Value chain efficiency
  • Agricultural diversification
  • Business enabling environment
  • Climate and economic resilience
  • Women and marginalized communities
    • Agricultural Finance
  • Rural Development and Capacity Building
  • Climate Smart Agriculture

Required Qualification & Experience

Qualifications Sought Include:

  • At least a bachelor’s degree or license in a relevant field;
  • 7+ years of professional experience of increasing responsibility;
  • Experience working with USAID and other project donors heavily preferred;
  • Experience working with the Government of Nepal, international donors, or local organizations is preferred.
  • Demonstrated management/supervisory experience;
  • In-depth knowledge of Nepal’s regulatory and policy environment based on previous experience working in the public or private sector or in a non-governmental organization;
  • Strong writing and interpersonal skills;
  • Fluency in English and Nepali required
